WORKFLOWS
WebP opens in Chrome, Safari, Firefox, Edge, and Opera, and most websites, CMS tools, and editors already accept it. That makes WebP a practical choice when something still doesn’t open AVIF.
MODERN FORMAT
You stay on a modern web format instead of falling back to JPG or PNG. This tool saves a normal WebP (not a perfect-copy mode), keeps transparent backgrounds when the original has them, and lets you trade a bit of quality for a smaller file.
TRANSPARENCY
Yes. If your AVIF has a transparent background, the converter keeps it transparent in the WebP.
When a file has transparent areas, the result is marked Transparency preserved. You don’t need to put the image on a solid background first.
FILE SIZE
Not always. AVIF already compresses very well, so after converting to WebP the file is sometimes smaller, sometimes similar, and sometimes larger — depending on the original image and the quality you pick. The real sizes are always shown next to each result.
Example at Balanced (80) quality. Your actual sizes appear next to each result after conversion.
Most people convert AVIF to WebP for compatibility — not because the file is guaranteed to get smaller.
ANIMATION
AVIF can hold short animations, and WebP can too. This converter turns animated AVIF into animated WebP when your browser can open the animation (Chrome and Edge are the most reliable). WebP keeps full color and transparent backgrounds, so it usually suits detailed clips better than GIF.
By default we keep the original speed and loop forever — you can still change width, quality, frame rate, and loop in the settings. If your browser can’t open the animation, you’ll see a clear error instead of a broken still image.
